A

French school boards in Ottawa-Carleton.
Barbara
Campbell of the Canadian Wildlife Service of Environment Canada
has coordinated this event for the seventh year
Approximately
350 children from 8 schools were bused to the Canadian Museum of
Nature to tour the museum and enjoy a presentation by Marcel Gahbauer
of the Canadian Peregrine Foundation. These children from Grades
1 through 8 were the classmates of the winners of the Poster Contest,
in which 320 students from 23 schools participated.
Certificates
and prizes were given to the children and the $100 gift certificate
was received on behalf of the school from Joe Dafoe's Museum Boutique.
The winning posters were displayed at the event and at the Wildlife
Awareness Event at the Carlingwood Shopping Centre. Scotty, the
Scholar's Choice Mascot, visited to help with the presentations.
The
children learned from Marcel Gahbauer of the Peregrine Falcon Association
the ways in which this organization and the interested public are
helping the falcons survive.
Children
are encouraged to enter the poster contest to enlighten them as
to the needs of wildlife and how they can help.
