| What Are The Awards for Excellence
in Environmental Conservation? |
Introduced in 1997 to celebrate the 50th Annversary
of National Wildlife Week, the Awards for Excellence in Environmental
Conservation are presented to an adult individual, to an adult group,
and to a youth or youth group under 21 years
whose long-term commitments to conservation of the environment have
had significant impacts on wildlife in the Region. Each winner is
presented with a framed certificate and a chickadee, mounted on driftwood, carved by woodcarver,
Rick St. John.
The awards were given at a special ceremony with a well-known guest speaker, reception and silent auction . This ceremony was open to the public.
Unfortunately, The Awards for Excellence will no longer be awarded. Anyone who wishes to nominate an individual or group for an environmental award will be referred to other groups who continue to provide awards.
